How to Install a Headset on a Bike

Using a rag or a soft brush, clean the steerer tube to remove any dirt, grease, or old headset material. This will ensure a smooth fit for the new headset.
Step 4: Install the New Headset Cups
Apply a small amount of grease to the steerer tube, and then place the new headset cups onto the tube. Make sure the cups are oriented correctly, with the larger side facing the bottom bracket.
Step 5: Insert the Fork
Slide the fork into the headset cups, ensuring that the crown race is properly seated on the top of the steerer tube. If you’re using a headset press, now is the time to attach it to the fork and press the fork into the headset cups.
