How to Delete a Group in WhatsApp

If you’re part of a WhatsApp group that you no longer wish to be a part of, or if you’re the group admin and want to remove the group entirely, deleting the group is a straightforward process. Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to delete a group in WhatsApp.

Step 1: Open WhatsApp

First, open the WhatsApp application on your smartphone. Ensure that you are logged in with the correct account, as you will need to have the group chat open to proceed.

Step 2: Open the Group Chat

Navigate to the group chat you wish to delete. This can be found in the Chats tab, where all your group conversations are listed.

Step 3: Tap on the Group Name

Once the group chat is open, tap on the group name at the top of the screen. This will open the group info page.

Step 4: Tap on ‘More Options’ or ‘Group Info’ (iOS)

On Android, tap on the three vertical dots in the top right corner to access the ‘More options’ menu. On iOS, tap on ‘Group Info’ at the top of the screen.

Step 5: Select ‘Delete Group’ or ‘Delete and Leave’ (Android)

In the ‘More options’ menu, you will find an option to ‘Delete Group’. On Android, tap on this option. On iOS, you may need to scroll down and tap on ‘Delete and Leave’ first.

Step 6: Confirm the Deletion

A confirmation prompt will appear. If you are the admin, you will have the option to choose whether you want to delete the group or just leave it. If you’re deleting the group, select ‘Delete Group’. If you’re leaving the group, select ‘Delete and Leave’.

Step 7: Delete Group Chat from Chat List

After confirming the deletion, the group chat will be removed from your chat list. If you want to remove the group chat from your device entirely, you can swipe left on the chat and tap on ‘Delete Chat’.

Remember that once a group is deleted, all the messages and data within the group will be permanently removed. If you’re not sure about deleting the group, you can always leave the group instead of deleting it, which will remove you from the group but keep the group intact for other members.
